I sure hope it's July 23rd.
If it's July 23rd, that would be SEXY! Because then if it's annouced (MBP) at WWDC, I can order it and it will ship fast.
1 Questoin. If i got a Rev B Week 1 MBP, will there be problems like heating, moos...?
Thanks.

Really? I had understood that Yonah was close architecture wise to the previous Pentium M, while Merom represents the first "true" Core architecture.
True, the Pentium M (Mobil Centrino) was a hudge sucess for Intel! The Pentium D (Desktop) was a dual-core disaster, pushing the old "NetBurst" Pentium 4 past all safe design limits.
Core 2 is the all new rework that saved Intel!

Heck, my new 2.2 i7 quad MacBook Pro beats every one of the last Mac Pro revisions. The Mac Pro line is more and more for a very specialized audiencethose who need the utmost performance and expansion (2-3 video cards, an extra I/O card, 4x SSD drives for speed + space for high end production work...
You are kidding right? MBP's Geekbench score is around 11k, where the top end Mac Pro's perform close to 30k, that's almost 3 times as powerful as the fastest MBP.
24 threads > 8 threads. :)

If Apple see this as an issue and fix it, do you think iPhone 3g users will see an update or are they left with their phones collecting data like this forever?

Apple may offer a choice of Core Duo 1 or Core Duo 2 as a BTO option.
Doing this might allow Apple to sell the Basic MacBooks and iMacs for less while
the Core Duo 2 models will be favored by those who can afford to spend a bit more.
Except that the Core Duo is no less expensive than the Core2 Duo, and because of inferior power management, is less suitable for laptops. And BTO CPU options for notebooks are unlikely, considering how they would make the product line more complicated, and they would require a change to a socketed CPU.

First and foremost, though i am repeating what others have said... this is still a 5g ipod... This update was VERY minor... I say expect an iphone at macworld 06, and ipod 6g somewhere in 1st quarter of 07 (maybe macworld).

I don't question the gaming issue, I just wonder what percentage of MBP buyers would not buy because of the Intel graphics. My uneducated guess would be a very small percentage. Remember, Apple caters to the average consumer, not the geeks.
That may be true but Apple does have the reputation of being 'a cut above the rest' when it comes to video and graphics.

I'm still loving mine too :) I did, however, just put it up for sale on CL though. Just to see if I get any bites. I'm not going to worry if I do or don't sell it though. It's still an amazing machine
thought about doing that. or maybe a trade + cash for and "old" macbook. something that would hold be back to do bare necessities, save enough money for .........
maybe a high end imac. oh joy.
..nah screw it. i'll just stick with my mid-2010

The biggest reason that we have been Virus and attack free in general is because we have been such an exclusive club for so long. ...
I mean really when 92% of the world runs on Windows, and mere 5% runs on OSX, who would you target?
The market share myth is exactly that: a myth. It has little or nothing to do with market share.
But as that percentage begins to increase
It already has increased, while the number of viruses that run on current Mac systems has decreased... to zero.
... and the typical Mac user has more money that the typical Windows user
You can't determine a person's wealth by the computer they have. Some are millionaires and spend $500 on a computer because it's not that important to them. Some are struggling to survive and spend every penny they can borrow to buy the latest gear. If you measure a person's financial strength by the type of computer they have, Mac users would rank higher in most cases, since Macs are more expensive than PCs with the same specs.
Your arguments have no basis in fact.
The Mac Malware Myth (http://www.roughlydrafted.com/2009/01/29/the-mac-malware-myth/)
Apple market share tops 10%, Windows share lowest since tracking began (http://www.tuaw.com/2009/01/02/apple-market-share-tops-10-windows-share-lowest-since-tracking/)

I've just used the software on my iPhone 4 backup, and was looking at timeline and the locations. I noticed that at the same time point, the map was showing use in Swindon (where I am) and High Wycombe (65 miles away), as well as in London (80 miles away) at the next date stamp, but i've never been to either of those places ever with my iPhone.
The only thing that I can think of is because my phone is a replacement from Apple because of a faulty home button (which could be refurbs according to some sites across the net). It seems as though the backup takes the cell tower data from the phone from any point in its life, and cannot be wiped.
Any other ideas?

Look at netflix and hulu plus. if you can get access to TONS of content through a subscription what is the point of owning an actual physical copy if you can watch it from your queue online on your device?
Have you ever actually watched Netflix or Hulu on a iPhone or iPad over 3G? It totally sucks - not even close to what it looks like when stored locally, especially on the iPad.

every single time you do anything on the internet or cell phone, some device somewhere is keeping a log of it.
And simply forcing all instances that keep logs of personal data to delete them after a short period would solve this.
How hard is it to periodically delete old log files? It works fine for system.log, no reason this cannot also be made to work for other types of log files.

Because of them most of the US is obese.. The first thing I think that should be dismantled is fast food chains.. Those who believe in making children obese should be put up against a wall and shot in the head...

With the switch to Intel, Apple may have to provide timely upgrades to remain competitive with Windows-based PC manufacturers.

What seriously kills me about all this is that those sensationalist chimpanzees from GP rally against a computer company that presently has roughly 6% (or less) of the computer market....almost every throw away computer I've ever seen were Compaqs, HP's, Dells, Gateways/e-Machines, and a few other generic crap boxes from some nameless plastic factory stuffing windoze in a toaster. Seriously, Greenpeace goofballs should stop stargazing up their rectums and take a look at the largest contributors of hardware refuse. Macs as far as I know are not easily tossed out. apple computers have been primarily hand me downs unless some terrible accident happened rendering it useless. seriously, no one throws away a functioning mac, unless they decided lead paint makes for good breakfast cereal.
How many of these sap-chugging numbskulls go after Dell for making computers that generally end up being sidewalk fodder? perhaps they should invest their energies into designing the green computer, since they seem to have so much gloriously skilled scientists at their disposal to expose the evil apple. Go team planet!
