They could call it iMovie... wait that won't work.
iFlix (too netflix-ee)? iPix(too pixarish)? iMedia (too micro$oftish)? nah.. just stick with iTunes... everybody knows how to use it, but fix the video playback.
How about iWillBuyWhateverCoolAppleGadgetComesOutOnThe12th ??

The Apple laptops are a staple machine for Mac using pro photographers so this would be a perfect event to announce an upgrade along with a new version of Aperture. It would look rather odd to have new C2D iMacs and MacPros without an upgraded MBP.

I am disgusted that this post has a high positive/negative ratio..... this is terrible.

10MP phone cannot be as grainy as a 3MP phone.
A 10megapixel phone will record more clearly the low quality picture that comes from these tiny lenses.
It will be a much larger file, and won't look much better than a 3MP. Still, as the lenses improve this will change.

You must be a barrel of laughs on a shopping trip:
Salesperson: May I help you?
LagunaSol: Yes, I'd like to buy that big white iPhone 3GS over there.
Salesperson: (confused) Uh, you mean the Galaxy Tab?
LagunaSol: No, no, the 3GS. It's right there.
Salesperson: Sir, they're only vaguely the same shape.
LagunaSol: I don't care, it's a big 3GS, I can tell !
Salesperson: Yeah... okay.
Believe it or not but judging by some replies in this thread there are people THAT stupid and quite a few of them out there.
It's not even funny anymore. The age of retards is where we are.

Other songs from their hard drives. That would be truly awesome! I do hope that that makes it into the final product.

His counter point is supposed to be just as silly. That's his point.
No, that's your take on the point. My mileage varies.

but i thought half the point of TB was that you would only need one output from the computer, and since we don't have any TB displays (or anything for that matter) how do we know that the ports are limited to one display?
TB has two 10 Gbps channels. A display takes up one of them. To power a second display, you could use the other channel, but you'd need some kind of breakout box that housed a video card.

I'm going to venture a guess and say we'll see something named the iPod Showtime or Showtime as a product name.

It was going to be a chapter in Jobs' autobiography too. LOL
Anyway an odd thin about airplay is the ability to stream just the sound from a video file in itunes. It can't be done but it can be done from iOS.

No, not at all.
An affinity mask sets the set of CPUs that can be scheduled. A job won't be run on another CPU, even if the assigned CPUs are at 100% and other idle CPUs are available.
And that, by the way, is why setting affinity is usually a bad idea. Let the system dynamically schedule across all available resources -- or you might have some CPUs very busy, and others idle.
Win2k3 also has "soft" affinity masks, which define a preferred set of CPUs. If all of the preferred CPUs are busy, and other CPUs are idle, then soft affinity allows the system to run the jobs on the idle CPUs - even though the idle CPUs aren't in the preferred affinity mask.
Another aspect of quad core systems like MacPro or future Kentfields: On these systems, two cores share one 4 MB cache. If an application runs on two threads, it can run on two cores on the same chip, or on two cores on different chips. Threads that run on the same chip can exchange data very quickly, because anything that is in one threads L2 cache is automatically in the other threads L2 cache, but both threads together have only 4 MB cache. Threads running on different chips cannot exchange data quickly; data that is exchanged needs to be transferred through main memory. However, _each_ chip has 4 MB cache, or 8 MB total.
In other words, some applications will run faster if using threads on the same chip, some will run faster if using threads on separate chip. It is quite hard for the OS to guess, but the application developer should have some idea.

What exactly was this patent for? Why doesn't it affect other players and music services besides iPod+iTunes?

Since 1984:
Cmd-X = Cut
Cmd-C = Copy
Cmd-V = Paste
Grab will snap a picture of a window, the entire screen etc. There is also print to PDF.
Drag and drop to move a file.
using the keyboard, how quaint

Except that ColorWare paints the products (AFAIK). A red iPod nano from Apple would be red anodized, not red painted.
Yeah, I posted that earlier - I want the proper matte anodised finish. But RED, not that trendy pinkish colour that's going around at the moment. Proper, primary RED.

How to make it a best seller:
Being a true smart phone, capable of booting Mac OS X mobile (to be released) and thus being used as a wireless computerless remote for Keynote and PowerPoint presentations made on Mac or Windows.
Will sell millions on corporate, education and domestic markets.
With a huge halo effect!!!

Too bad Apple had to pay when, IMO, they didn't really infringe on a patent.
Either Apple believed they did and/or was afraid of further damages the court could award. If Steve thought he could invalidate the patent, he would not have settled.

Wow, you people...
Let me clarify, i made my decision before this news was posted here. I really dont see nothing wrong with waiting on this refresh especially if it will be a huge step forward(which i believe it will be).

1024 CPUs??? WOW... and I thought I had nasty simulations. :o
Still, dont you think that it is a terrible waste of computing power if the app doesnt take advantage of multiple processors, eventhough it might be very hard to write such an app? This is really not my field and I know far too little to have an opinion, so take it for what it is worth.
It is a terrible waste to have unused CPU power, especially when the application is CPU intense, there are entire fields of research dedicated to optimizing certain types of calculations.... Ive said it before, the core wars will also stop eventually...
Whats wrong with having two dual core processors on one chip? I can understand that the FSB might become a bottleneck but thats not only a issue related to the number of cores/processors is it?

Even bigger screens? They're getting closer to replacing bedroom TV's now..
I don't believe they will get larger screens, they are almost too large for most cars when boxed as it is.
