i've got one for you, but mine is version '9.0.4' instead of '9.2.2' like the link above. also have the matching 'Software Restore' disc, and an 'iMac Applications' disc also stamped but looks to be later as it's a lighter shade of gray. i know that i used the disc to install 9.0.4 on a b&w g3, so this should work for you.

i've no use for them, if you want them, pm you mailing address and i'll slap a couple stamps on them and send them on. best of luck with the restore project.

Those should suit the OP fine, since 9.1, 9.2, 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 are all free downloads from Apple (And the 9.0.4 Disc would also probably work to some degree on early Slot-Loading iMacs (Up to and including Summer 2000) as well should the OP happen across any of those). The iMac Applications disc will be for 9.2.2 and X, however may work (It should have iMovie 2 for OS 9 on it if its the same disc I have - mine is from a G4/700 15" iMac, dated 2002 with iLife 3 for X and iMovie 2 for OS 9 on it), but it probably shipped with a G4 iMac, and if it has iDVD on it, that wont work (as well as all the X-Gubbins on those discs).

    1. Open Applications → Utilities → Activity Monitor and terminate processes linked to MACDefender.

    2. Delete MACDefender from the Applications folder.

    3. Check System Preferences → Accounts → Login Items for MAC Defender entry.

    4. Run a Spotlight search for "MACDefender" to check for any associated files and remove them if exist. Use this method to fully delete the trojan. (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=11171082&postcount=16)

No, i can still get the printer from canons website no problem. So it is apple who has discontinued...they just stopped carrying it.

I can get it just fine through canon, amazon, newegg, and some other sites but then i would not get the rebate!!

Are you sure your computer isn't saying "Could not load MySpace, Reason: It's for 13 year old losers."?

    :)

I've had several pages lock up both safari and ie (I only tried ie to see if it would hose a standard browser as well!) on my ibook. It's those crappy "profile editors" that people use to customize their sites. Firefox on my PC works fine but I think the ibook's browsers are so shocked by the heinous html butchery that they just can't go on.

But, if you have mobility in mind you'd need the computer to be a notebook and work with a limited screen size or add an external display .... but then there's the plugging/unplugging all day, files need to be kept in sync...

What's your setup like, one computer or two, how do you use them?

One Macbook Air. No files to keep in sync since I don't have many computers and an external monitor isn't a problem. Of course if Apple knew how to make docks, it would be even easier, but it's not like plugging in 3 wires is sooooo much of a pain.

Having many computers is more of a pain than it's worth.

Strange! I had the same problem about 2 days ago. I finally used google to search for answers. Ended up that I didnt need to call adelphia, all I had to do was unplug both the airport extreme and the cable modem. Then wait like 30 seconds, plug the two together via ethernet cord, then plug in the modem, wait for it to reset then plug in the Airport....

All that headache for something so damn simple.....

I'm pretty good programming in PHP and Javascript, but now I need something that allows me to create simple desktop apps. Mostly it will be for automation scripts, too much for Apple Script, but not complex enough to jump into Cocoa and Objective-C. Examples: Manipulating text files (sorting, dupe line checking, adding/cutting parts, splitting/combining files etc.), uploading a file to several different FTP servers, sending POST requests to a server.

I often hear Pearl and Python mentioned and I believe they are pre-installed on the Mac, but I don't know much about them. What's the main difference? Which one (or something else?) would be best suited for these tasks? Which one is easier to learn?

Bonus: What's a good site to learn for someone who has general programming knowledge, but is a total noob with those languages?

Didn't know you get credit in the Support Notes for reporting a bug :D time to start bug hunting...

Well probably for this one. This is a huge security breach for people who run corporate networks.

I'm using the personal hotspot with my ipad, and so far the annoying thing is my ipad can't find the hotspot unless I first go into my phone and open settings and open the personal hotspot screen. THEN the ipad can connect. Anyone know a way to speed that up and not have to open the iPhone every time?

I'm seriously thinking of going back to separate 3G accounts.

Thank you for your quick reply..
How long do you think it will take to have to knowledge to actually write my own App. That would be App Store quality ?

    Between several months and never.

Are you in college? Learning to write a quality iPhone app without any previous experience in programming or design might be equivalent to getting at least a "B" in 3 semester length classes, tough ones at that. The variation is large. A few people are whiz kids. Many flunk out.

Check out the Stanford course videos on iPhone development. But the prerequisite is already being a good programmer.

There are also point-and-click tools that will almost write an app for someone with determination at following instructions, but almost no programming knowledge. See buzztouch.com for one example. But the types of apps that can be created by such tools are quite limited.

    Yep.

She'll be going with her boyfriend and she's gonna make sure it's legit before he gets the 16g back.

If this is his mistake honestly, he's caused a lot of trouble and worry for nothing.

We will see what happens, I'm waiting his reply.

I was gonna say you'd be a pretty sad bastard to go for a shirt only, but I'm sure if your buying something else and explain your situation, they'll oblige you.

Common... you could say that about any launch event. Why que when you could just go the next day... the fun is in being around like minded people.

I have had no problems pushing a Vizio 47" LCD, or a LG 37" LCD with my 5 year old Mac mini, 3 year old MacBook (both in sig), or my girlfriend's '09 13"MBP.

Hey uknick, firstly welcome to MacRumors ;)

Yeah, I'm going to wait and order mine. I'm not rushing in to it. I'll order mine online also, unless I have good reason to pop in to town and buy the iPad2 from the local Bristol store. I'm still wondering if I really need it or not. Still deciding, but temptation is strong!

I am trying to extend my wireless network via an ethernet cable. The Airport Express is set to Join a wireless network, with the Allow Ethernet clients box checked.

I get nothing. According to the network preferences, there is no signal/ethernet connection. The cable is fine as I've plugged it into my Time Capsule and it works well.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!
