In the presence of her father Prakash Koirala and mother Sushma, Manisha garlanded Samrat and exchanged wedding rings as priests recited Vedic mantras. She is dressed in a yellow saree. Bollywood celebrities like Suman Rajnathan, Manisha’s co-star in her debut film Saudagar Vivek Mushram and Govinda’s wife Sunita also will attend the marriage ceremony. Jackey Shroff and Govinda are also expected to attend the wedding reception to be held at Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza on Sunday. Traditional Nepali music Panchai Bazaa and a cultural dance are included in the marriage celebration. According to the sources, Nepali, Indian and continental dishes were served at the resort.
Manisha, who will move base to Kathmandu after the wedding, said, “Yes, I’m getting married to Samrat. He’s from Nepal, like me. But please, it is not an arranged marriage“. She also said, “Yes, our families know one another for some years now. So there was a comfort level between me and Samrat for a very long time. Gradually the bonding grew from friendship to love. And when Samrat asked me to marry him, I agreed“.
The 41-year-old Bollywood star clarified that it is not an arranged marriage and both the families know each other well. The marriage ceremony is spread over three days, Swyambar was on June 17 (Ashad 3), Mehndi was June 17 (Ashad 4), and the marriage is on June 19 (Ashad 5) today. Manisha will be flying in some of her close friends including Deepti Naval, Anu, Avinash and Paulomi Sanghvi for the occasion. One of her close friend said, “Manisha was looking for her soul mate and she seems to have found one in Samrat.”
Manisha is famous for her movies like, Dil Se, 1942: A Love Story, Akele Tum Akele Tum, Khamoshi, Bombay, etc. She had a 21-year run in Bollywood after her debut in Subhash Ghai’s Saudagar in 1989 with Vivek Mushran. She was last seen in a Bangla film with Prosenjit. Manisha is committed to do Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s My Friend Pinto, co-starring Naseeruddin Shah and Pratik.
Samrat is an MBA from the US and owns a company that deals with alternative energy company in Nepal. Dahal is the son of Surendra Dahal who is the owner of Leather Wings. He is also handling his family business in Kathmandu.
